The Crab Pot has been available to guests since March 1964 and on opening, a visitor’s book was donated:

A small contribution to the “Crab Pot” venture. We are so looking forward to our visit…

That first book, which survived a flood of the Crab Pot, was completed in the early 2000s, and a new visitor’s book was bought to capture future Crab Pot memories. Here are some of the comments over the decades…

We hope Heaven has a Crab Pot too.

Arrived tense, white and thin. Left relaxed, brown and fat. Crab Pot we love you!

It’s bliss to be in a flat on the flat!

Weather superb. Bikinis and swimming everyday – and to think we nearly didn’t pack them.

Winkles collected at low tide and eaten with watercress from Soar Mill Cove – followed by grilled mackerel are delicious.

Well worth a 500-mile drive for two marvellous days.

Salmon trout caught in the estuary and a lobster.

The Jewel in the Crown” is right here.

The Crab Pot is delightful and the view is superb.

Nice to be back at our favourite holiday spot again.

What a smashing spot – relaxing, sun, sea, sand – an idyllic respite from London hassle! Many thanks.

An ideal place for a second honeymoon.

Everything perfect, including the lobster we caught! Our thanks to everyone for the best holiday ever.

Two days is not enough. I could stay at the Pot forever!

120 mackerel, pollock, garfish…

We had the most wonderful action packed 36 hours and have totally fallen under the spell of Salcombe and the Crab Pot cottage.

We have just returned from a brilliant new year, relaxed and feeling very peaceful. I felt as if I could have stayed in your little piece of heaven forever. It is indeed a very special place.
